    Session Share: “Home Grown”

August 3, 2010 | Posted by Allison Parker

    Atkinson Farm, Houston Tx

Inspiration: The family and their family farm! The parents, and their two adult children as well as their families live in separate houses on this land. During our pre-session consultation, I told the mom the best place to shoot a 1 year old boy is at home or somewhere very familiar. She was concerned that there wouldn’t be any pretty places to shoot him on their farm – I remember telling her, “Oh, I’ll find somewhere!” I’m glad she decided to keep this session at home because it’s definitely the element that will make these images priceless for years and generations to come. I mean, what if they still farm this land in 50 years?!? That just isn’t as common in our world any more & I think it is extremely special.

Favorite Element: Of course, the light. Second favorite – the fresh picked produce that his grandmother drove up on the 4-wheeler for us!

Biggest Challenge: The light – it was high noon!

What Clients said?: Mom’s email, “OH WOW!!! Thank you for taking so many shots. You really did a fabulous job. The pictures turned out good! . . .  Thank you again!!!!”

Photographer’s final words: We love the new NAPCP parents blog! Thanks for asking us to share this fun summer session!! View the original post and read more about this session here.
