    Happy Fridays: Lovely Letterpress Roundup!

    After our popular giveaway last week I thought it might be fun to post some letterpress inspiration on the blog this week! I have compiled some examples of gorgeous letterpressed business cards and calling cards below. Perhaps it may even sway those who have been too timid to give letterpress a try in the past. Everyone needs at least one piece of letterpress in their life…believe me :)

    Capturing A Family | Session Share

    Inspiration:
    We wanted a rustic, almost vintage feel but also to document the brothers starting preschool & kindergarten. Fall is one of my favorite times to shoot outside! We used vintage suitcases, a tin pail turned upside down, an antique farm chair but really used the location to help tell the story.

    Favorite Element:
    Can I have more than I? The light was perfect, the setting was gorgeous & had I blast capturing a sweet & beautiful family!

    Biggest Challenge:
    Walking through the tall grass only to find hidden holes and the few honey bees wanted to be a part of the pictures!

    What the Client Said:
    “WOW!!! Such wonderful pictures! I LOVE LOVE them! YOU are amazing! They are beautiful! And the pictures of the boys are the BEST ever taken of them together and with just each of them! b12 is a face that Easton makes all the time- its so special that it was captured!! I’m a huge picture mom and these take the cake :)  Can’t wait until next year!!!”

    Photographers’ Final Words:
    Take time to find the right location to fit your client & their style. Take time to style their session to them. I feel blessed to be able to document so many beautiful & amazing families! What could be better than capturing a moment and creating art that will be cherished for years to come?

    Props Inspiration: Drawers

    When my little girl was about 4 months old, I brought her back to visit my hometown. It was in a much less developed city and I was very much in love with the rawness of the scenery surrounding me. Empty fields with bushes of wild flowers and grasses. Needless to say, I had to bring out my camera and do a portrait session at one of these amazing fields!

    Naturally, my little girl became my ever willing little model, however I was at a loss on how to pose her since she’s yet able to sit up on her own. I needed to put her in something which can both “sit” her up and at the same time looks presentable for the portrait session. Since all my usual props were back at home, I decided to think out of the box and came up with the idea of using one of the drawers that can be easily found in the house we were staying at during that trip. :D With a little help of a small pillow and soft-thick blanket, we managed to prop her up in a little wooden drawer and capture some really cute moments that day.

    Since then, I’ve been incorporating this idea into my clients sessions. I encourage my clients to bring a nice and unique drawer from a piece of furniture from their home for their baby sessions with me. The more antique & sentimental value the furniture provides the better! Here are some of the past sessions I’ve done with various type of drawers unique to each of my clients’. :)

    I hope you enjoy this post & find it inspirational. Prop opportunities are endless. You just need to look around and you may be surprised at what you may find which will be absolutely perfect for your next portrait session! ;)
