Christmas Mini Sessions…with a twist!

I love Christmas.  I was born at Christmas so maybe it’s just in my blood, but I definitely get nostalgic and giddy this time of the year.

Like most other photographers in years past I have offered “Christmas” mini sessions, which gives clients the opportunity to score themselves some great photos to use for their annual family Christmas cards.  These sessions were typically a scaled down version of a regular photo session in a great outdoor location, everyone dressed in their best and normally occurring some time in the fall.

Which is all lovely, but doesn’t exactly say “Christmas”.  I decided this year that I would offer something a bit different. I was determined to provide my clients with Christmas card images that actually portrayed…..”Christmas”.

It was definitely more work as I had to construct a bit of a set and my home became a makeshift studio for a few days, but I think the results definitely paid off.  I had clients dress their little ones in Christmas pajamas to fit the theme and get that festive holiday feel without being TOO over the top.

And don’t forget – these amazing Christmas images don’t only have to be used for your holiday cards!  Every year I put up a couple of my own Christmas canvases of my own kids, which adds another element to my holiday decorating and always gets people talking.

Happy December everyone!

  • An Emotional Documentary Newborn Session & Film
Inspiration I was inspired in this session by the emotional connection between the mom, dad, and baby. From every angle, there was an emotional connection and strong bond. • Golden Hour: A Family Session at the Beach
The inspiration for this photo session was to capture my two favorite things: children and the beach. And not any beach … Redondo Beach, California. It’s my happy place; to me it’s pure magic, and the sunsets here are stunning! In California, the land of “forever summer”, sunset beach sessions are a daily possibility. My […]
  • A Joyful, Refreshing Family Session
    1. Inspiration My newborn session style is soft and airy, and I would love my outdoor family sessions to match them. I always advise my clients to wear light, monochromatic, neutral colors to coordinate the color palette of the whole family, because they look best in the field. This family looked perfect from head to […]
