Session Share with Julie Miller!

Being a photographer, I find that I don’t always take enough time to photograph my own children. For this reason, I loaded up my kids and went on a road trip with them last summer. It was so much fun! We traveled back to the small town I was born in. I haven’t been back in 26 years! We made some fun stops along the way and took lots and lots of pictures! These images are a little different than my usual work but it was so much fun and the kids had a great time! Concept shoots can be a lot of fun for everyone involved. I am grateful I took the time to preserve some memories with my own kids.

I can appreciate the artist’s idea for these pictures, but to me, there is something very disturbing about seeing children made to look like adult mobsters, with guns, cigarettes and cigars. I would think most parents would not appreciate this depiction. Childhood is about innocence.

I think this world is full of over reactors. Who didn’t play cowboys and Indians as children, army guys, mobsters vs aliens etc? Weve taken lots of photos of that, made movies, etc and what were we doing? Not teaching them to become those things. We were showing them historical events and make belief. What about pirates, fairies, Santa claus? We aren’t showing them how to become these things. Ease up. Santa claus is overweight, smokes pipes, and hangs out with hundreds of little guys wearing green tights and our children arent learning to become this. Right? Lets keep things in perspective. I think these kids look adorable and are having light hearted fun. I’m pretty sure that they are not becoming mobsters ….
