“I am still basking in the afterglow of your announcement. My whole family is so thrilled!! I told my parents about it last afternoon and my mom told me that she was happy that I did not call her with this news in the evening because she would not have been able to sleep with all that excitement!

My family came to the US 29 years ago and right before I started college my first job was sitting outside of a clothing shop in Brooklyn to make sure that clothes displayed on racks were not stolen; I got paid $4 an hour and was thrilled about that. And then 24 years later my name and images were displayed in Times Square – if that’s not an American dream, I don’t know what is!”
